Night flights into SJO are no problem for us. The drive to Monteverde takes about 3.5 hours and the last stretch up the mountain is unpaved but our drivers do it in their sleep. Literally — they drive it every day. You'll be at your cloud forest lodge before midnight in most cases.

Travel Time Reality Check
Google says 3-3.5 hours but real talk: 4 hours minimum. The last 35km up to Monteverde is unpaved and slow — around 45 minutes just for that stretch. Add potential fog in the mountains after dark and it's definitely a 4-hour trip. Our vans are built for these roads and handle it comfortably.
