Short journey to one of Costa Rica's most magical natural wonders - the sky-blue Rio Celeste waterfall in Tenorio Volcano National Park.
Travel Time Reality Check
Google says 1.5 hours and it's close. The highway from Liberia toward Upala is good, and the turn-off to Río Celeste/Bijagua is paved now. Maybe add 20 minutes for the last stretch to some of the lodges, which are on dirt roads. Easy overall.

Río Celeste is a hidden gem — the blue river is surreal, like someone poured paint in the water. If you're visiting, go early morning (the park opens at 8am) to beat the crowds. The hike is about 2 hours round trip. After, check out the hot springs near Bijagua — way less touristy than the ones in La Fortuna.
