The route to Nosara crosses the Nicoya Peninsula through small towns and ranching country. Approximately 2.5 hours. The last stretch into Nosara is a winding road through hills with the final section unpaved.
Road Conditions
Mostly paved with the final 15-20 km on gravel as you enter Nosara. The Nosara approach is famously bumpy but well-maintained.
Google says 2h but realistically 2.5 hours with the gravel section. Avoid driving this route at night — wildlife crossings and poor lighting on the gravel stretch.

Local Tip

Once in Nosara, head straight to Playa Guiones for sunset on your first day — it's the iconic Nosara beach. If you want a quieter spot, Playa Pelada is just north and usually empty.
