Travel from the volcano region to Liberia Airport through the northern lowlands and Guanacaste province. The landscape transitions from rainforest to dry tropical forest.
Travel Time Reality Check
Google shows 3-3.5 hours but count on 4. The road through Tilarán is winding, and once you hit the Interamericana there can be truck traffic. After Cañas it opens up and it's a straight shot to Liberia airport. Leave 4.5 hours before your flight to be safe.
